Travel Career Snapshots

Coming Soon: Travel Career Snapshots!

I’m excited to announce that next week we will be launching a new post category on Full Life, Full Passport: Travel Career Snapshots! As I mentioned when the site first went live, I want to share with you the stories and experiences of people who inspire me. While I personally have chosen to balance traveling as much as I can with having some roots, there are many in my acquaintance who have taken the plunge and pursued careers that take them around the world. Across countries and continents, they have displayed passion, resilience, and creativity as they have worked hard in dogged pursuit of professional success. Plus, their adventures near and far are so much fun to follow!

The focus of Full Life, Full Passport will continue to be on encouraging and empowering people to pursue incredible travel experiences without feeling like they have to give up their careers, homes, social networks, and established lives to do it. However, I also recognize that there may be some of you out there who are looking for a career change, want to make travel a more central part of your life, or just love to read about people living a nomadic lifestyle. That’s where these career snapshots come in!

Each interview will provide an honest peek into the lives of these highly motivated and successful professional world travelers. They will share the good, the bad, and the ugly from their time on the road, along with helpful tips about how to get into their respective industries and some of their favorite stories from their work. If you’ve ever considered pursuing a career that involves travel, or if you’re just curious as to what life looks like for those who have mastered the art of living out of a suitcase, this is the series for you!

Join us next Thursday, May 10, for the first Travel Career Snapshot, which will focus on a job that is near and dear to my heart: tour directing. As you may know, I was previously employed as a land-based tour director in Alaska and the Yukon and spent my first three summers out of college taking groups of people on multi-day adventures across that amazing region. Some of my friends from that job have gone on to work for other or additional tour companies and now spend their time escorting guests around the United States and the world. I recently interviewed one of these tireless travelers about her career and can’t wait to share the transcript with you next week!

As the series progresses, we’ll hear from people from a number of different industries and professions, from flight attendants to program leaders to military nurses. You won’t want to miss it!

See you soon!

XO,
Gwen
